IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

  • Please DO NOT rely on receiving an email or push notification alert to find you stock. We will send notifications on a case by case basis. It is pointless us sending thousands of notifications if a retailer only has a few units of stock which get snapped up almost immediately. Just leads to further frustration.
  • For very high demand products, don't be surprised if stock sells out in seconds. An online store may have only made a single unit available.
  • Any irregular page refreshing or bot activity will result in an automatic permanent block from our server.
  • Please do not attempt to sell on this forum. There is another well known website for that. Offending posts will be deleted and user accounts suspended without notice.
  • Please refer to our FAQs for further answers to common questions.

Thanks, Admin

This one shown in stock in Currys. Tried to go there, 11k people waiting in queue (black Friday). Got my place, still in stock - but unable to add to basket. Then I can see it flapping in stock, not in stock, in stock, not in stock. I suspect they might be adding it to the system one by one, but each time it emerges, it's instantly being sold to bot. :/ That or some horrible bugs (doubt it).

Every time with Curry's, doesn't matter how fast you are they seem to be gone before you can press pay!

Report

Tinek78 - 27/11/2020 16:52

Yep, and that happens even in the middle of the night, if alert arrives at that point. Poof, gone.

with currys, as the stores are closed you can't check out, not sure why they can't offer delivery though

Can’t add to basket error. No doubt the bots are clogging up the system - clicked on the link as soon as Discord notification came in. At this point I’m considering f***ing it all off and buying a 3090

i did the same bought a 3090 asus strix from awd-it last week after giving up

Yeah for the price scalpers are selling 3080s at you may as well just get the 3090

Report

coldwired - Yesterday 01/12/2020 12:21

Yeah it's ridiculous, listing an '80 for £1500 when you can just get an available '90. I guess some people will still buy it!

Can add to basket whenever I get the alert, but there's never any stores available for collection...anywhere! Sold out or bug?

Theyre called bots. Instant buy programs. All pre-filled

I was literally watching the discord channel and clicked the link as soon as it came in for currys... gone Either a wierd bug/back end thing, or we're actually being rinsed by bots

Ffs. This bot thing is just dumb now. Bagged a 3070 from Amazon yesterday so going to give up on a 3080 till next year. Currys really need to up their anti-bot protection.

Foxache - 26/11/2020 22:12

Same. I don't care how much I want it, I'll never buy from a scalper. The only reason scalpers do what they do is because impatient fools with no self respect will pay double the price to get something that, in 3 months time, will be in stock everywhere at RRP or less.

Found them on ebay. ***********ebay******/usr/altirixtech?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 6 of them at the same time as went on sale on currys. Scum. Wish you could report them for inflating prices.

Same here. Managed to get one in my basket, choose home delivery then when I tried to pay I got an error. Curry's site is really badly set up in two ways; they've got no bot protection and they also don't temporarily remove an item from stock when it's added to basket. With most websites you essentially reserve the item as soon as you add it to your basket and get a 5-10 minute window to complete checkout before it's available to buy by someone else. With Curry's it's basically a free-for-all race of whoever can get through to payment the fastest. So stupid.

yeah i already had that card in cart. The second i got the notification, it was proceed to checkout, pre-filled info and failed to proceed with this order. The bots are instant. No chance even with item in basket

Why doesn’t curry’s ever work for me? It says it’s in stock but when I try to purchase it says not available for home delivery or even store pickup? Is it really in stock? I tried a bunch of different postcodes also all around England and nothing shows up in stock, this was the second that stock update came through. Am I doing something wrong?

It shows that when they are out of stock. When they are in stock it will be available for home delivery. You have to be there the second they go live to get one because more than 20000 people watch them to buy them. I managed to get an MSI 3080 into my basket and chose home delivery but by the time I put my payment information in, they sold out and I kept getting an error.

BuzzBeePee - 23/11/2020 06:45

I was there when the alert went out. All my details are already saved but it did the same to me. Basket, cart, deliver = "Not available." Basket, cart, collect = "none near you" I think it's bugged or they were just doing backend maintenance that triggered the stock bot.

Report

Tinek78 - 23/11/2020 11:45

Same for me but I really just suspect there's bots buying them out, as almost instantly after there popped a few ebay auctions with these. And since Currys doesn't have any captcha and similar anti-bot safeguards, it's just likely automatic system buying out instantly and posting on ebay etc. One can't compete with that...

Killer_Nads - 23/11/2020 12:08

I dont know man, i was there the exact second the discord notification came through, it was actually impossible for me to get there any sooner! I dont think its just bots, as for example the 3090's i can easily see in stock atleast for a few mins, sometimes up to 10mins. Even the Asus rog strix 3090 i could see in stock for a while before it was sold out. But it just not the same for the asus 3080 cards, i really need one and its been up a few times and every time it just seems it was a false alarm. As for the bots, i understand it could get purchased out for home delivery but no way can they also all be sold out from store inventories right? As im sure for example if the bot setup was in manchester they wouldn't be able to buy in london store local to me etc...

Report

patrick3463 - 23/11/2020 16:19

Im pretty sure its bots too. Like Tinek78 said, currys doesnt have anti-bot protection. Every time I add one to basket, even though the webpage shows in stock, once you proceed, it will not let you buy. Once i got to fill it my card details, shipping address, literally 1 button from confirming. It just errored and did not let me. ( i had it all saved so from basket to purchase was under 10 seconds)

Report

Foxache - 23/11/2020 23:28

If people have already got them in their baskets with delivery details pre-filled and that's still not quick enough the it has to be bots. As for buying out store stock, it doesn't work like that. If you choose store collection then you're just getting it delivered to a store rather than to your house, so yes, bots could buy out all stock no problem. If there weren't idiots willing to pay almost twice what they're worth on eBay then we wouldn't have this problem, as it wouldn't be worth the scalpers buying them up to re-sell.

Report

Tinek78 - 24/11/2020 00:25

Sadly, today the same situation. I was on the website and filling in order within seconds and yes I could see them be in stock for a minute or so. But it wouldn't let me pay for it (just errors). Meanwhile, on eBay instantly a few got posted from Asus and MSI, for way over £1k each. And soon after they got sold out instantly there too, so bots are very profitable for the scalper and this will only get worse, not better - till NVidia delivers them in big numbers finally.

Report

Killer_Nads - 24/11/2020 18:16

Foxache, i dont know if that is exactly true, because when i was looking earlier and saw the card available for store pickup it said immediately available to pickup and no time frame of waiting for delivery. Whereas the delivery said something like 1-2 days.
